Tradycyjnie 1 stycznia w Złotej Sali Wiedeńskiego Towarzystwa Muzycznego (Filharmonia Wiedeńska) odbędzie się uroczysty koncert transmitowany przez wiele europejskich rozgłośni radiowych i telewizyjnych.

Do udziału w koncertach zapraszani są wybitni dyrygenci tacy jak: Claudio Abbado, Ricardo Muti, Zubin Mehta czy Daniel Barenboim. 1 stycznia 2017 roku Orkiestrę Filharmoników Wiedeńskich poprowadzi Gustavo Dudamel. Popularne utwory zostaną zaprezentowane w eleganckiej scenerii pałacowej, będą to m.in kompozycje rodziny Straussów. Koncert Noworoczny z Wiednia transmitowany jest od ponad 30 lat.

Die musikalische Leitung liegt erstmals in den Händen von Gustavo Dudamel. Der 1981 in Venezuela geborene Maestro ist damit der jüngste Dirigent in der über 75-jährigen Geschichte des Neujahrskonzerts.

Sein Debüt am Pult der Wiener Philharmoniker feierte Dudamel 2007 in Luzern. Bei den philharmonischen Abonnementkonzerten 2011 setzten Dirigent und Orchester die Zusammenarbeit fort. 2012 übernahm Dudamel die musikalische Leitung beim Sommernachtskonzert im Schlosspark von Schönbrunn, und 2014 dirigierte er das Orchester bei der traditionellen Wiener-Philharmoniker-Woche in Japan. Am 1. Januar 2017 folgt nun seine Premiere beim wohl berühmtesten Konzert der Welt.

Mittlerweile verfolgen über 90 Länder den Neujahrsgruß der Philharmoniker und die damit verbundene Botschaft von Hoffnung, Frieden und Freundschaft. Vom Walzer bis zur Polka: Auch 2017 stehen die heiteren und besinnlichen Kompositionen der Strauß-Familie und deren Zeitgenossen auf dem Programm. Das Wiener Staatsballett tanzt nach einer Choreographie von Renato Zanella in der Hermesvilla, einem Schloss, das Kaiser Franz Joseph für seine Sisi im Lainzer Tiergarten errichten ließ.

Petroc Trelawny is our host for the traditional classic start to the year where the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra are joined in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein by the exuberant and exhilarating Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel for the 2017 New Year's Day Concert Live from Vienna.

Gustavo Dudamel is the youngest ever conductor to lead the orchestra in their annual celebration of the music of the Strauss family and their contemporaries and he brings his individual and exciting style to the proceedings. As well as a mix of the finest galops, polkas and waltzes, the concert ends, as always, with the beloved By the Beautiful Blue Danube and the stirring Radetzky March.

The concert is broadcast in over 90 countries with an estimated 50 million television viewers around the world and for 2017 there is not only the customary appearance by the Vienna State Ballet - this year performing both on location and live inside the Musikverein - but also a performance by the Choir of the Society of the Friends of Music. Founded in 1858, this amateur chorus is consistently ranked among the best concert choirs in the world.
